Temp staffing hours worked down 11% in week ended March 11

March 21, 2023

Temporary staffing hours worked in the US fell 11% year over year in the week ended March 11, according to the SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator released today.

Looking at this week’s report, commercial staffing hours fell 14% year over year, while professional staffing hours fell 4%.

Temporary employment has been below its year-ago levels since Dec. 22, 2022, and decreased by 2.8% year over year in February.

“Such lower levels in 2023 are not surprising, given the record volume levels achieved in many skill segments of staffing in 2022 and in the face of current headwinds such as inflation, elevated interest rates and general economic slowing,” according to the report.
