Technisource Confidence Index Ticks Upward

July 29, 2011

The Technisource information technology employee confidence index edged up in the second quarter to 56.3 from the first-quarter reading of 56.2, Technisource announced Tuesday.

According to the index’s survey, 65 percent of the IT workers surveyed believe the economy is getting stronger and/or staying the same, down from 69 percent in the first-quarter survey.

However, 70 percent of workers are confident in the future of their employers in the second quarter, up six percentage points from the first quarter. And 35 percent of IT professionals are considering a potential change in jobs, up three percentage points from the first quarter.

“We are seeing more stabilization in the confidence levels of IT professionals and a hopeful view of current employers’ ability to grow and succeed,” said Michael Winwood, president of Technisource. “Because technology departments have become accustomed to doing more with less for so long, IT workers are reaching a point where productivity is affected and hiring managers need to add additional staff, whether on a contract or permanent basis.”

The survey was done by Harris Interactive for Technisource, the technology placement division of The SFN Group Inc. (NYSE: SFN).
