September 02, 2022

Hours worked in the US staffing industry rose 1% year over year in the week ended Aug. 27, led by the strong demand for professional staffing, according to the latest SIA Bullhorn Staffing Indicator, released today.

Hours worked were up 0.1% week over week, continuing a pattern of slow growth seen this year.

Week ending Aug. 27, 2022 Indexed value Year over year Week over week
US staffing 105 +1% +0.1%
Commercial staffing 89 -2% -0.2%
Professional staffing 141 +10% +0.7%

The SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator measures hours worked. It comprises two sets of analyses: a year-over-year comparison showing how the most recent week compared to the same week 12 months previously and an indexed value that has been benchmarked against data from the week ended Jan. 19, 2019.

In the week ended Aug. 27, the index value was 105, following readings of 105 in each of the prior two weeks as revised.
