Staffing hours worked rise 1% year over year

Hours worked in the US staffing industry rose 1% year over year in the week ended Aug. 13, according to the latest SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator, released today.

Although hours worked in commercial occupations were down 3% year over year, professional staffing hours were up 12%. Professional staffing hours have remained close to or above 10% growth since the beginning of 2022.

The SIA | Bullhorn Staffing Indicator measures hours worked. It comprises two sets of analyses: a year-over-year comparison showing how the most recent week compared to the same week 12 months previously and an indexed value that has been benchmarked against data from the week ended Jan. 19, 2019.

In the week ended Aug. 13, the index value was 104, following readings of 105 and 104 in the prior two weeks as revised.
