Staffing execs weigh in on industry growth — Executive Forum

March 02, 2016

How big will the temporary staffing industry grow in 10 years? Staffing industry leaders attending the final session of the Staffing Industry Executive Forum last Thursday in Phoenix answered that question, and 35.14% of the staffing leaders forecast industry revenue will exceed $190 billion 10 years from now. The figure refers to temporary staffing and place and search, which includes direct hire, retained search and temp-to hire.

The estimate was not far from Staffing Industry Analysts’ own estimate of staffing industry revenue of $183 billion in 2026.

The question garnered 111 responses, which included:

  • Less than $130 billion: 0.90%
  • $130 to $149 billion: 4.50%
  • $150 to $169 billion: 27.93%
  • $170 to $190 billion: 31.53%
  • More than $190 billion: 35.14%

Thursday’s session, called Research Live!, asked audience members to vote on a series of other key strategic issues in the industry in addition to revenue growth, and results were immediately compared with Staffing Industry Analysts’ own predictions. It was one of many sessions at the conference, which drew nearly 1,200 attendees from across the staffing industry to the Biltmore Hotel in Phoenix.

John Nurthen, Staffing Industry Analysts’ executive director of global research, will produce a report exclusively for conference attendees summarizing the views of the audience, as well as key insights on the issues from Staffing Industry Analysts’ global research team.
