Shiftgig acquires BookedOut

September 20, 2016

Shiftgig, an on-demand labor marketplace, acquired BookedOut Inc., a logistics technology platform focused in the experiential marketing vertical.

The transaction closed Sept. 16; terms were not disclosed.

In November 2015, human cloud platform Shiftgig received a $22 million private equity investment to support the company’s growth plan, and the BookedOut acquisition provides growth both geographically and in key vertical markets.

“We are excited to announce this transaction with BookedOut,” said Eddie Lou, CEO and co-founder of Shiftgig. “The combined companies share similar core values and vision and are headquartered only two blocks from each other. Joining forces, we will become the smartest and easiest way for the hourly workforce and businesses to connect.”

For the next 60 days, BookedOut, which has 32 employees based in one Chicago office, will operate as BookedOut by Shiftgig as the companies develop a transition and integration plan for the brand. BookedOut's CEO will join Shiftgig's executive team.

The combination of the two Chicago-based companies gives Shiftgig an expansion into the live event space, Event Marketer Magazine reported. And BookedOut gets a market presence upgrade (Shiftgig’s 12 offices will now support BookedOut across the country) and access to substantial sales, marketing and development capital.

Over 1,400 businesses nationwide access temporary labor directly from the Shiftgig app, according to the company.
