Remote marketing/creative teams more likely to outperform onsite teams: Aquent

November 10, 2023

Marketing/creative workers who are given the freedom to work remotely perform better than those who work onsite, according to a report by Aquent. The staffing firm’s Talent Insights report found that 66% of remote teams are identified as high performing compared to only 47% of onsite teams.

In addition, the report found that 79% of remote teams work to seek diverse perspectives very or moderately well, compared to 61% of onsite teams. While onsite mandates limit diversity by alienating working parents, ethnically diverse employees and employees with disabilities, remote work creates more opportunities for everyone to feel valued and included in the workplace, according to the report.

Aquent said its data suggests that while some business executives continue to push for a return to the office this year, teams with the freedom to work remotely ultimately perform better.

The report also found that 96% of high-performing teams are very or moderately effective at adapting to change and embracing innovation such as artificial intelligence, compared to 73% of low- to moderately performing teams. While AI implementation is still in its infancy, Aquent noted that 41% of high-performing teams rated their team’s level of AI adoption as excellent or good, compared to only 26% for low- to moderately performing teams.

“We believe AI will enhance human talent and empower people to be more creative, agile and efficient,” John Chuang, founder and CEO of Aquent, said in a press statement. “It is my sincere hope that companies across the globe will lean on these findings to better inform their workplace policies and decisions. Together, we can create a great place to work for all.”

Meanwhile, the organization found that 94% of high-performing teams are more likely to be connected to a company’s brand purpose than low-performing teams at 76%. In addition, high-performing teams are more likely to cultivate psychological safety and mental well-being and manage workplace stress and burnout well, according to the report.

Aquent conducted the survey in June and July with responses from 5,431 global marketing, creative and design talent.
