Remote and hybrid work is of heightened interest to college graduates, according to a report by ZipRecruiter. Forty-four percent of graduates want a hybrid work arrangement, 33% want to be fully remote and only 23% want to work in an office or workplace every day.
However, 70% of the respondents said they plan to have a full-time job in the coming year.
βIn an economy defined by a constant drumbeat of disruptive innovations, new graduates are less likely to have predictable and linear careers,β said Ian Siegel, co-founder and CEO of ZipRecruiter.
According to the report, more than two-thirds of the 2023 graduating class, 69%, feel they are very prepared for the current labor market. While 92% started actively applying for jobs in early April, 85% said they had already been recruited.
The report also found that most of the graduates already have work experience and are adept at juggling. Ninety-seven percent of respondents said they worked for pay during college, with 83% juggling multiple roles at some point during their college career. In addition, 49% participated in gig work, 43% joined work-study programs and 34% participated in paid internships.
ZipRecruiter surveyed more than 2,000 graduating students of the 2023 class for the report.
