January 26, 2015

Demand for science, technology, engineering and mathematics talent will continue to rise this year, according to research by Randstad on the most in-demand jobs for 2015.

“The conversation around attracting top talent to STEM fields became increasingly louder last year,” said Jim Link, chief HR officer, Randstad North America. “As the number of job openings for STEM careers increases, we need to educate not only potential employees, but also students, on the strong and rewarding careers that exist within these areas. The good news is that we are seeing companies roll out robust strategies to secure talented candidates who possess the proper qualifications.”

Randstad is making the predictions based on field market research as well as an analysis of 2015 economic projections and market trends.

Here are the three hottest jobs by segment:

  • Physicians: Primary care (family medicine, internal medicine); hospitalist; emergency medicine
  • Nursing and allied health: Labor and delivery nurses; disease management nurses; pharmacists
  • Finance/accounting: Senior analysts (business, financial, data); senior accountants; reporting and compliance personnel
  • IT: Java developers; project managers; app developers
