Randstad lists 12 key markets for cybersecurity talent

September 14, 2016

Demand is strong for cybersecurity talent in 12 key markets nationwide, according to Randstad Technologies “Cybersecurity Workforce Report,” released today. The report names key markets nationwide with strong demand for top-tier, enterprise-level cybersecurity talent.

Washington, DC, reported the most open job listings at 3,524 jobs, as well as the most direct employers currently competing for those employees at 743 employers. New York also reported a tight market, with 1,500 jobs posted by 453 employers.

The demand in these markets was determined based on a combination of employer volume for talent and number of open job listings. The markets and the open jobs posted by direct employers currently competing are:

  • Atlanta: 652 open jobs posted by 248 direct employers
  • Austin: 270 jobs posted by 98 employers
  • Boston: 604 jobs posted by 260 employers
  • Chicago: 627 jobs posted by 242 employers
  • Dallas: 776 jobs posted by 243 employers
  • Los Angeles: 641 jobs posted by 238 employers
  • Minneapolis: 444 jobs posted by 136 employers
  • New York: 1,500 jobs posted by 453 employers
  • Phoenix: 374 jobs posted by 127 employers
  • San Francisco: 801 jobs posted by 277 employers
  • Seattle: 556 jobs posted by 148 employers
  • Washington, DC: 3,524 jobs posted by 743 employers

Cybersecurity talent is highly sought after not only in these markets but also nationwide, according to the report. Between June 2014 and June 2016, demand surged 35% year over year.

“This data is not surprising, given that nearly every industry in today’s enterprise ecosystem could fall victim to a security breach of their IT systems,” said Dino Grigorakakis, VP of recruiting at Randstad Technologies. “We are working with CIOs who now rank security and cybersecurity expertise as one of the most essential needs for their IT departments, and we are helping them attract willing and highly qualified candidates from their own back yard.”

Randstad Technologies’ report of 12 markets with high demand for cybersecurity talent is derived from an analysis of proprietary data from Randstad Technologies and Wanted Analytics.
