Randstad nv announced that Linda Galipeau, the leader of its North American business, will step down from its executive board to pursue opportunities outside the company. Randstad’s US staffing business ranks as the second-largest in the US in terms of revenue; it’s also the second-largest staffing provider in Canada.

Galipeau is formally slated to step down on March 26, the date of the annual general meeting of shareholders.

Two executives will step up to lead North American operations: Rebecca Henderson, presently CEO of Randstad Sourceright, and Karen Fichuk, an executive from The Neilsen Co. Both Henderson and Fichuk will join the executive board.

“We regret that Linda has decided to leave Randstad,” CEO Jacques van den Broek said. “She leaves North America in great shape, it is Randstad’s biggest region with above group level average returns. Besides that, Linda has played an instrumental role in our innovation journey the last four years leading to our Tech & Touch-strategy. Randstad owes Linda a great debt of gratitude.”

Galipeau joined Randstad in 1995 as a district manager in the US. She started Canadian operations in 1997, then was appointed president of Randstad staffing in the US in 2008. Galipeau was appointed to the executive board in 2012 where she is responsible for US, Canada, Randstad Sourceright, Monster and RiseSmart.

She serves as CEO of Randstad North America and executive board member.

“I am grateful to the company for the many opportunities and challenges afforded me and for my outstanding colleagues, who I know will continue to lead the market in both performance and innovation,” Galipeau said in a statement today. “Regardless of where my future path takes me, I will remain a champion of Randstad.”

Staffing Industry Analysts’ Global Power 150 — Women in Staffing list includes Galipeau and noted that she also oversees the Randstad Innovation Fund, a corporate investment fund dedicated to building a portfolio of early stage HR technology investment. In addition, she was the first female member of Randstad’s executive board.

In a 2017 interview with Staffing Industry Review magazine, Galipeau talks in-depth about how she started in the industry in 1988 and her subsequent journey.

Randstad is reorganizing its portfolio to match its strategic direction.

Fichuk will become CEO of the company’s North American business. She has more than 25 years of experience as a commercial and functional leader at The Nielsen Co. Most recently, Fichuk served as president of developed markets and strategic initiatives with responsibility for North America, Western Europe and Australia/New Zealand.

Henderson will also join its executive board with more than 25 years of experience in technology and HR services. She will have responsibility for global businesses, including Randstad Sourceright, Monster, RiseSmart and Global Client Solutions. Randstad Sourceright includes MSP and RPO operations.

Henderson is also on the Global Power 150 — Women in Staffing list.

The nominations of Fichuk and Henderson to the executive board are subject to shareholder approval at the annual general meeting on March 26.
