Prime Care Nursing nurses worked up to 84 hours per week without overtime, DOL says

August 17, 2023

Nurse staffing firm Prime Care Nursing Inc didn’t pay 91 nurses overtime despite some working 84 hours per week, according to the US Department of Labor.

The Greenville, Mississippi-based firm paid straight-time rates instead of overtime rates when employees worked more than 40 hours per week, the department said. The practice ended following an investigation, which also recovered $314,211 in back wages and liquidated damages, according to the department.

“When employers violate workers’ rights, they make it harder for them to provide for themselves and their families,” Audrey Hall, Wage and Hour Division district director in Jackson, Mississippi, said in a press release. “The Department of Labor will hold employers accountable when they mistakenly think they can violate these rights.”
