Postmates says it creates $6.6 billion in economic activity each year

April 16, 2018

Postmates, an online delivery app that matches independent contractor couriers with consumers and businesses, said it creates $6.6 billion in economic activity across the US each year. The claim was released in a report titled β€œThe Postmates Economic Impact Report,” and was done in conjunction with Edelman intelligence, a global research and analytics consultancy.

The report argues that for every $1 in sales on the Postmates platform, merchants expand and bring on more employees to generate an additional $18.55 in economic impact.

In its data, Postmates also said its independent contractor couriers earned $216.8 million in 2017 alone, and workers earned an average of $18.32 per hour.
