TrueBlue Inc. (NYSE: TBI) struck a deal to sell the Canadian staffing business of its PeopleReady division to Vertical Staffing Resources, a Brampton, Ontario-headquartered staffing firm. The move will let TrueBlue increase its focus on its core operations and growth opportunities in US staffing and global RPO.

“This sale allows us to most effectively leverage our resources to maximize value and further sharpen our focus on core operations, including the many compelling and profitable growth opportunities we see in the US staffing and global RPO markets,” Taryn Owen, president and CEO of TrueBlue, said in a press release.

“We are confident that Vertical Staffing Resources will be a great fit for our PeopleReady Canadian staffing business and are working closely with the Vertical team to ensure a seamless transition,” Owen said.

PeopleReady provides general and skilled labor, and it operates in the US and Canada. The sale of the Canadian business is set to close in this quarter. Terms of the transaction were not announced.

TrueBlue will continue to serve Canada through its Staff Management | SMX and PeopleScout brands.
