People: Velocity Global, Indeed, Atlas, Onward Search, Daversa Partners, Vaco, Ursus, Nextaff, Spherion

Velocity Global, a global employer-of-record provider, announced Nzinga “Zing” Shaw as a global advisor. Shaw was the first chief diversity officer for the NBA, working with the Atlanta Hawks. She has also led the global diversity, equity and inclusion functions for brands such as Starbucks and Edelman. Shaw has also held additional HR roles with the NFL and Yes Network. She is currently president of the global DE&I and ES&G practice for executive search firm ZRG Partners.

Indeed named Priscilla Koranteng as chief people officer. Koranteng has more than 22 years of experience, most recently as global head of talent and chief diversity officer at Kellogg’s. Her experience also includes working at large organizations such as DXC Technology, T. Rowe Price, Booz Allen Hamilton and JPMorgan Chase. Koranten is the author of Janju and The Voice of One Girl. She also established the Janju Foundation in Ghana, which is focused on supporting education for girls. She will be part of the Indeed’s senior leadership team and report to CEO Chris Hyams.

Atlas, a Chicago-based provider of employer-of-record services, named Ruairi Kelleher as general manager of Europe and Michelle Mesina as chief people officer. Kelleher brings more than 15 years of experience; prior to joining Atlas, he was CEO of global payroll technology company Immedis. Mesina has more than 20 years of experience including HR leadership positions at Gensler, PowerReviews, project 44 and Hazel Technologies.

Onward Search, a staffing firm for creative, marketing and technology professionals, named Steve Potestio as senior VP, West Coast. Postestio has more than 20 years of experience and most recently co-founded and managed Mathys+Potestio, a digital creative staffing firm. He also helped launch 52 Limited, a digital resource company working to place tech talent.

Executive search firm Daversa Partners appointed Will Brewster as managing director. Brewster has nearly a decade of search experience and joined Daversa Partners in 2013.

Pivot Point Consulting, a Vaco company, named Ryan Sousa as VP of data and analytics. Sousa has more than 30 years of experience and most recently served as chief data and analytics officer at Seattle Children’s Hospital. In addition, Vaco promoted Kimberly Wacaser to co-managing partner at its Tampa, Florida, office. Wacaser will work alongside Bradley Hewett, who has served as a managing partner for more than 15 years. Wacaser joined Vaco in 2012 and has 12 years of experience. She previously served as an auditor at PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Ursus Inc., which ranks among the fastest-growing US staffing firms, is launching into the Canadian market. Founder and CEO Jon Beck is heading up the effort.

Nextaff reported that Lizzette Weber is the owner of its new office in the San Diego, California, area. The office is located at 581 Telegraph Canyon Road, Chula Vista, California.

Spherion Staffing and Recruiting announced that Brian Palaia is the owner of its new office in the Worcester, Massachusetts, area. The office is located at 48 Sword St. in Auburn, Massachusetts.
