Online staffing firm Shiftgig names former LinkedIn exec as CEO

September 19, 2017

Online staffing platform Shiftgig named former LinkedIn executive Wade Burgess as CEO effective Monday. Burgess formerly served as global VP of talent solutions at LinkedIn and was chairman of the inaugural board of the LinkedIn for Good Foundation.

Former Shiftgig CEO Eddie Lou will remain with the company in the new role of executive chairman.

Burgess said he’s had a unique opportunity at LinkedIn, helping to create opportunities for professionals. The move to Shiftgig will help broaden his mission.

Shiftgig appeared to be the company in the space with the right technology to “employer the gig worker and to reduce the friction between the organizations who need talent and those who have it,” he said.

Burgess will be based in Chicago, the home base of Shiftgig. His first focus will be on examining the market and workers and identifying problem areas the company is uniquely positioned to solve.

“It’s a great time for Shiftgig to bring in an amazing executive whose had a history of working with big, enterprise clients,” Lou said. “We’re super excited about our progress historically and we’re excited about the possibilities to come.”

Shiftgig provides onsite staffing through its platform in the industrial and office/clerical space. It has raised more than $59 million in capital and hire more than 24,000 workers, called specialists. Its client companies include firms in food service, hospitality, retail, warehouse and experiential marketing.
