RigUp is renaming itself to Workrise. The online staffing platform for skilled-trades workers serving the oil and gas industry announced the new name today.

The Workrise name comes as the company moves to serve more industries in addition to oil and gas. It plans to serve client companies in the wind, solar, construction and defense industries among others.

“We founded RigUp in 2014 on the premise that technology could be used to more efficiently and effectively source skilled labor across the oil and gas industry,” co-founder and CEO Xuan Yong said. “In the years that ensued, we found that our approach could be taken further; we could help address a much larger socioeconomic shift across the infrastructure industry.”

Yong said Workrise’s aim today is to bridge the skilled labor gap across industries while leveraging technology and data.

Workrise, based in Austin, Texas, has raised $452 million in funding to date.
