Online job ads rise by 137,100 in November, but measure still under review

December 06, 2017

US online job ads rose by 137,100 in November to more than 4.70 million, according to The Conference Board’s report on online job ads released today.

Despite November’s increase, the organization has noted a declining trend in the number of online job ads that may not reflect the broader trend in the US labor market. “Based on changes in how job postings appear online, The Conference Board is reviewing its [help wanted online jobs] methodology to ensure accuracy and alignment with market trends,” the report stated.

The Conference Board Help Wanted OnLine Data Series measures the number of new, first-time online jobs and jobs reposted from the previous month for more than 16,000 Internet job boards, corporate boards and smaller job sites that serve niche markets and smaller geographic areas.
