New Ontario vendor qualifications could exclude smaller IT staffing firms from government bids (IT World Canada)

July 10, 2017

Proposed changes to the Ontario government’s “vendor of record” qualifications for task-based information and IT services could eliminate all but very large companies, IT World Canada reported. The government issued a request for bids in May that served notice that it plans to reduce its list of vendor of record list in the IT service category to 10 from 317. And to qualify, bidders must provide references from three accounts generating revenue of C$25 million and where they have 250 placements annually. Michael Leacy, president of the National Association of Canadian Consulting Businesses, which represents large, medium and small professional staffing firms, estimates fewer than 20 Canadian staffing firms will qualify.
