New Hampshire and South Dakota posted the lowest jobless rate among all states in October with unemployment rates of 2.8% each, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported today.

Alaska posted the highest jobless rate among states at 6.8%. It was followed by New Mexico with an unemployment rate of 6.7%

Massachusetts posted the largest year-over-year decline in its unemployment rate in October, going to 3.3% from 4.8% a year ago.

The national unemployment rate in October was 4.9%.
