August 24, 2023

Hays plc, the world’s sixth-largest staffing firm, named a new CEO. Dirk Hahn will take over the top role effective Sept. 1. Hahn is currently managing director of Hays’ Germany business as well as the company’s separate Continental Europe, Middle East and Africa operations. He has been with Hays for more than 20 years and oversees approximately 5,500 employees.

He will also join Hays’ board on Sept. 1.

“Dirk’s strategic approach and deep internal and external relationships will enable Hays to continue executing on its growth plans, and I look forward to working closely with him in his new role,” Andrew Martin, board chair, said in a press release.

Hahn grew the Germany business, which now represents 30% of Hays’ gross profit, according to the company. “It is an exciting time for the company, which is well positioned for continued growth in key markets and disciplines, and I look forward to building on these strong foundations going forward,” Hahn said in a press release.

The company announced on Feb. 23 that current top executive Alistair Cox would step down from his CEO and board member roles effective Aug. 31.

“It has been a tremendous privilege to lead Hays for the past 16 years, and I am extremely proud of what has been achieved, with our teams creating a global leader in the recruitment sector and with significant further growth potential,” Cox said in a press release. “Having worked with Dirk throughout my tenure, he has been an integral member of the senior leadership team and has a deep understanding of the business, and I am confident he will make every success of the role.”

Cox is in the Europe Staffing 100 Hall of Fame.

Hays also announced full-year earnings.
