Nevada has fast-tracked its application process for temporary nursing licenses to ease the current shortage of pediatric nurses, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported. The Nevada State Board of Nursing can now issue a temporary Nevada license within a few hours to nurses already licensed in another state, according to Executive Director Cathy Dinauer.

“If the facility needs someone tomorrow night, they’d have that option to get somebody on board,” Dinauer said.

The Nevada Hospital Association noted that the change comes at a time when pediatric hospital units in Nevada remain full, caring for large numbers of children.
