Monster names travel tech exec as CEO

May 10, 2018

Job board provider Monster Worldwide Inc. named Scott Gutz as CEO, effective July 2.

Gutz replaces Mark Stoever, who left the company in 2017. Chris Kibarian, CEO of Randstad Digital Ventures, was shepherding the company and helped build the executive team following Randstad’s acquisition of it in 2016. Gutz will report to Kibarian, who will continue to oversee both Monster and RiseSmart in his role as head of Randstad Digital Ventures.

Gutz most recently was CEO of Amadeus North America Inc., a provider of technology solutions to the travel and tourism industry. Amadeus powers a marketplace connecting travelers and travel providers, and Gutz brings expertise with digital transformation and focus on e-commerce and digital marketplaces to the role at Monster.

Prior to Amadeus, he was COO and senior VP of e-commerce for the company; before that, he was CEO of e-Travel Inc., a subsidiary of Oracle. During his time with e-Travel, Gutz implemented the company’s sale to Amadeus in 2001. He has also held senior management positions with Oracle Corp. and Arthur Andersen LLP.

Randstad Holding nv acquired Monster Worldwide Inc. in November 2016, and Stoever had taken over the CEO role the following month.

“Monster is at a pivotal point in its digital transformation and we’re thrilled to have someone with Scott’s experience and track record of success join the company,” Kibarian said. “Monster is making significant progress in its efforts to transform the job search experience — work that has been led by an almost entirely new executive team.”

Monster in February announced an agreement to sell its Asia Pacific business in order to “double down” its focus on North America and Europe. The company plans to sell its business in India, South East Asia and the Middle East to India-based staffing firm Quess Corp Ltd.
