Maxim Names New CFO

September 22, 2011

Maxim Healthcare Services Inc., a Columbia, Md.-based healthcare staffing and home healthcare provider, named Brett Barlag as chief financial officer and chief strategy officer.

Barlag will direct the company’s financial, accounting, and business strategy operations. Barlag previously served as a senior managing director at FTI Consulting Inc.  He has worked with companies across the healthcare supply chain, including acute care hospitals and hospital systems, post-acute care providers, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturers, and retail and specialty pharmacies.

“Brett brings significant healthcare experience to Maxim Healthcare. In particular, he has managed regulatory process improvement efforts for healthcare and life science companies and helped to evaluate and strengthen compliance programs,” said CEO Brad Bennett.

“I’ve spent my entire career working with healthcare organizations to effectively address compliance challenges and manage regulatory risk,” Barlag said.  “The great thing about Maxim Healthcare is that this company is embracing their present circumstances as an opportunity to become better. We are facing each challenge head on and I am confident that Maxim Healthcare will emerge a stronger company.”

This appointment is a continuation of recent additions Maxim Healthcare has made to its executive leadership team, following its settlement with the federal government in a Medicaid fraud case.
