August 01, 2016

US manufacturing activity expanded more slowly than expected in July amid wariness over the Brexit vote, Reuters reported today, on the Institute for Supply Management’s factory activity index, which fell to a level of 52.6 in July from 53.2 in June. Readings over 50, generally, indicate expansion. The employment portion of the index fell to a reading of 49.4 in July from 50.4 in June. Expectations were for a reading of 50.3.
