Man charged with stealing $400,000 in temp employee scheme (The New Orleans Advocate)

October 26, 2017

Federal authorities in New Orleans on Wednesday charged a man with stealing more than $400,000 from the food company that manufactures Crystal Hot Sauce. The New Orleans Advocate reports Wayne Soniat allegedly signed time sheets showing work had been done by temporary contract workers who had not actually worked the hours. Soniat then obtained debit cards in the names of those “ghost employees,” to which the company paid for the hours billed. Soniat then cashed in those cards at local ATMs.
