Majority of workers say they will thrive under a flexible work schedule: Fiverr

September 19, 2023

US workers might thrive under flexible work schedules, according to a report released today by talent platform Fiverr.

More than three-fourths of US workers studied, 76%, said they can complete their weekly work in four days. It was higher for millennials, with 87% agreeing with the statement.

Additionally, 76% of US workers feel that their current office-based work arrangement does not align with their preferences. For those who prefer working from home, 63% cited saving time and money on commuting as a key factor, while more than a third found office environments distracting.

Baby boomers are more open to remote or flexible work arrangements compared to millennials and Gen X respondents.

“Research has shown that the corporate work structure often fails to accommodate the needs of diverse talent, from young workers to parents, who thrive with flexibility and control over their work lives,” Michal Miller Levi, senior director of market research and insights at Fiverr, said in a press release. “To recruit diverse talent, organization leaders will need to stop emphasizing working hours and instead focus on skills and output.”

The report also revealed that 46% of workers globally prefer no more than one daily meeting, and 59% prefer in-person meetings.

The research was conducted by Censuswide in August. It surveyed 9,129 employees and freelancers in the UK, the US, Italy, Netherlands, Germany, France and Australia. Among them, 2,008 of the respondents are from the US.
