Legs & Reg: Temps Sue for Overtime

August 25, 2011

A group of temporary workers in California filed a lawsuit against Juniper Networks Inc. and PrO Unlimited claiming the companies improperly classified them as exempt from overtime, according to the new, August issue of the Legs & Reg Advisor now available to corporate members of Staffing Industry Analysts. The advisor is produced by labor law firm Littler Mendelson in conjunction with Staffing Industry Analysts.

It’s common for both staffing providers and buyers to both be identified as defendants in these types of cases, according to the Legs & Reg Advisor

“Staffing firms should audit both federal and state law wage and hour compensation compliance,” according to the Legs & Reg Advisor. “Having workers sign a contract stating they are exempt from overtime requirements will provide no legal relief if the work being performed is not actually exempt.”
