Koya Leadership Partners acquires recruiting firm ReWork

January 04, 2018

Newburyport, Mass.-based Koya Leadership Partners, a retained executive search firm serving the nonprofit sector, acquired New York-based recruiting firm ReWork and its sourcing platform technology to bolster its pipeline of millennial talent.

Koya places mostly seasoned, C-suite executives, and because ReWork’s focus is more on mid- and senior-level executives, the deal brings Koya a new pool of emerging leaders.

The transaction closed at the end of 2017 and terms were not disclosed. The ReWork brand and staff will remain.

ReWork is a B Corp, which are for-profit companies certified by the nonprofit B Lab to meet standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency. ReWork completes approximately 100 assignments annually for mission-driven organizations.

Koya also plans to leverage ReWork’s technology — a platform designed to capture information on emerging leaders and what interests and drives them — to engage with candidates, particularly millennials, and broaden its network of potential candidates.

As part of the deal, Koya hired ReWork co-founder and CEO Abe Taleb as a VP to focus on the millennial workforce.

“Abe truly understands what motivates millennials, how to excite and engage them, and how they have an unwavering commitment to social responsibility,” said Koya Founder and CEO Katie Bouton. “He’ll be instrumental in helping us attract and place a new generation of emerging leaders into roles that will fuel their passion for social change and allow them to make a positive difference in the world.”

Koya completes about 300 retained search placements annually.
