Judge delays minimum wage hike for NYC app drivers (The Associated Press)

July 11, 2023

A judge ordered New York City last Friday to temporarily delay the implementation of its new minimum wage rule for app-based food delivery workers pending a hearing on July 31, The Associated Press reported. The order came a day after Uber Eats, DoorDash and Grubhub sued the NYC council. City officials recently announced plans to substantially increase earnings for those workers in the coming years to provide them with more financial stability. The law was set to take effect July 12 with an initial increased pay rate of $17.96 an hour.
