In tech: Firms pay up to $314,746 for AI engineers, Google adds job search tools, Entelo hires, press finds Twitter temp

Companies are investing $1.35 billion in talent with artificial intelligence expertise, Paysa reported, with the annual salary for an AI engineer of $314,746 at Uber. In other recent technology and staffing news, recruiting platform Entelo hired a former Google leader to head up AI work, Google updated its tools for job seekers, the Twitter worker who caused Donald Trump’s Twitter account to temporarily shut down was identified as a temp, and Zego raised £6 million in a series A funding round.

Paysa

US companies across all industries are investing $1.35 billion in talent with artificial intelligence expertise, according a survey released this week by Paysa, a big data platform aimed at providing market insight into salaries. The average salary for an AI engineer at Uber, the top-paying company, is $314,746.

Paysa listed the 20 highest-paying companies by average salary for an AI engineer:

Google

Google last month announced new tools for job seekers. In a product announcement, the company said 85% of job postings don’t include salary information, so it’s adding salary ranges from several sources including Glassdoor and LinkedIn to its job search results. It also added a location filter so job seekers will see how far away a job is from them. The tools also give job seekers a choice of sites on which to apply for a job if it’s listed on more than one site. Google also added a bookmark button for job postings.

Entelo

Entelo, a San Francisco-based firm that provides an online recruiting software platform to engage candidates, announced last month it hired Google’s Gaurav Kataria as VP of product and data science to lead its initiatives to apply machine learning and artificial intelligence to recruiting. Kataria had led Google’s data science group for Google cloud working on Gmail, Goodle Docs, Chrome, Android and Cloud platform. The company said it will use Kataria’s expertise in AI-driven product development to help employers find and engage talent.

Entelo had a $20 million series C funding round in June, and it announced its Entelo Envoy AI-powered recruitment solution in October. Envoy automatically parses job description and an input process with a recruiter or hiring manager and uses AI to find passive candidates, which it sends to a recruiters’ inbox.

In addition, the company also announced last month it hired Mike Trigg to serve as chief marketing officer. Trigg will also serve as general manager of Entelo Envoy. Trigg formerly served as chief operating officer of Hightail, a file-sharing and creative collaboration provider.

Entelo also hired Yasmin Zarabi as VP of business and corporate development. Zarabi was formerly VP of legal and compliance at Hearsay Systems.

Twitter temp

TechCrunch reported the Twitter worker who took the action that caused Donald Trump’s Twitter account to be temporarily be shut down last month was a contract worker who was on his last day working at Twitter through Pro Unlimited. The worker, Bahtiyar Duysak, is now back in Germany.

Zego

Zego, a London-based provider of commercial insurance to on-demand workers, raised £6 million in a series A funding round, the company confirmed in a tweet.

Didi Chuxing

China-based human cloud, ride-sharing firm Didi Chuxing has halted its app service in the US, technode reported. The service, called “Didi Haiwai,” allowed Chinese tourists in the US to hail rides operated by Lyft on Didi’s app.
