IC misclassification: Judge rules agents are employees, suit could reach $1 billion (CWS 3.0)

A federal judge in Ohio ruled American Family Insurance Group’s agents are employees and not independent contractors in a class-action lawsuit that could be valued at as much as $1 billion, CWS 3.0 reports. Judge Donald Nugent upheld an April advisory ruling by a jury, citing American Family’s control over the agents as a factor in his decision.
