HourlyNerd rebrands as Catalant

July 27, 2016

HourlyNerd, a Boston-based online staffing platform, rebranded as Catalant, effective July 26. The new name is a combination of catalyst, brilliant and talent, according to the company.

Catalant Technologies, the newly formed parent company, will serve both large enterprises and small businesses. The company’s small business offering will continue to operate under the name “HourlyNerd powered by Catalant.”

The rebranding follows a recent $22 million Series C funding round, led by General Catalyst Partners, which brought HourlyNerd’s total amount raised to more than $33 million.

HourlyNerd was founded in 2013 when founders Rob Biederman, Pat Petitti and Peter Maglathlin were classmates at Harvard. Catalant now has more than 28,000 business expert suppliers active on its platform. It’s customers number in the thousands, including nearly 10% of the Fortune 1000, according to the company.

“The freelance economy’s rapid growth is forcing a new conversation between global enterprises and top talent,” Biederman, co-founder and co-CEO, said. “We are educating the industry on how to successfully incorporate the freelance model into their day-to-day operations, representing a new way of working for both businesses and highly talented individuals — one that is flexible, productive and impactful.”
