HireQuest Inc. (NASDAQ: HQI), a staffing franchisor, acquired Recruit Media Inc., an HR tech startup that enables job seekers to create a profile and record a video about themselves on their phones for potential employers. Recruit Media has the URL recruit.com.

“Recruit Media was founded on the basic principle of ‘I am more than a résumé,’ that the traditional résumé alone does not empower candidates to holistically represent and differentiate themselves,” Jeff Nussbaum, co-founder and CEO of Recruit Media, said.

The platform also enables text-based chat as well as in-app video chat, according to HireQuest. It operates on iOS and Android apps.

HireQuest also said it will integrate Recruit Media into its current technology suite and will have a fully functional online job ad and recruitment platform with the acquisition. That platform could become an additional business line or stand-alone company in the future.

“Many of the features and solutions of the Recruit Media platform have been on our internal technology road map for a number of years,” HireQuest President and CEO Rick Hermanns said. “This acquisition accelerates that road map, saving us years of development, and provides a more robust base to build upon.”

HireQuest, based in Goose Creek, South Carolina, paid for the transaction with cash on hand and a revolver draw.
