A measure of job advertisements in the US was down 6.6% year over year in August.

The Conference Board-Lightcast Help Wanted OnLine Index fell to a reading of 145.4 in August from a downwardly revised 148.6 in July. The 2.2% decrease between August and July follows a 3.7% decrease between June and July.

This index measures the change in advertised online job vacancies over time, reflecting monthly trends in employment opportunities across the US.

Data for this measure is collected from more than 50,000 online job domains including traditional job boards, corporate boards, social media sites and smaller jobs sites that serve niche markets and smaller geographic areas.
