Heidrick CEO takes medical leave of absence

April 04, 2017

Executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles International Inc. (NASD: HSII) announced CEO Tracy Wolstencroft is taking a three-month leave of absence for treatment of a benign lung condition, beginning April 3.

Wolstencroft joined Heidrick & Struggles as president and CEO in 2014, following a 25-year career at Goldman, Sachs & Co.

Krishnan Rajagopalan, executive VP and managing partner – executive search, will serve as acting CEO and interim principal executive officer in Wolstencroft’s absence. Rajagopalan leads Heidrick & Struggles’ global executive search business and is a member of the firm’s executive committee.

Rajagopalan joined Heidrick in 2001 in executive search and served as head of global practices beginning in April 2014. He was appointed an executive VP in January 2015. Rajagopalan held other leadership roles including global practice managing partner, technology and services from 2010 to 2014 and global practice managing partner, business/professional services from 2007 to 2010.

“Tracy is doing the right thing,” Chairman Richard Beattie said. “It is in the best interests of both Tracy and the company for him to take the time needed to focus on his health. We wish him a speedy recovery, and we look forward to his return. We are fortunate that Krishnan is well suited to take on the role of acting CEO, and the full board and management team have complete confidence in his ability to lead Heidrick & Struggles.”
