Healthcare staffing firm Health Carousel announced today that it acquired Vitruvian Medical, a Houston-based firm that provides locum tenens physician and advanced practice staffing focused on anesthesia.

Vitruvian will join the Health Carousel Locum Network which also includes NEXTLocums, Onyx M.D. and Lucidity. Vitruvian will continue to operate under its own brand.

“With strong leadership, an experienced team, and an attractive culture already in place at Vitruvian, combined with Health Carousel’s investment and the synergy, we believe we can achieve through [Health Carousel Locum Network], we are excited for what we can accomplish together,” Health Carousel CEO Bill DeVille said.

Health Carousel had ranked as the 15^th-largest locum tenens provider in the US prior to the acquisition. The company calculated it could become the 11^th-largest with this deal.

Vitruvian was founded in 2005 by Patrick McDermott.
