Hawaii posts lowest jobless rate in November, five state hit record lows

Hawaii posted the lowest unemployment rate among all states in November at 2.0%, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported. North Dakota followed at 2.6%.

Alaska recorded the highest jobless rate among all states at 7.2% in November.

The BLS reported unemployment rates fell in November in eight states and rose only in North Carolina and North Dakota, which were up by 0.2 and 0.1 percentage point, respectively. Alabama, California, Hawaii, Mississippi and Texas hit their lowest rates since 1976, when the series began: 3.5%, 4.6%, 2.0%, 4.8% and 3.8%, respectively.
