Google Hire to shut down next year

August 28, 2019

Google announced it will close its Google Hire applicant tracking system and recruiting software offering on Sept. 1, 2020.

“We’ve made the difficult decision to sunset Hire by Google on Sept. 1, 2020. While Hire has been successful, we’re focusing our resources on other products in the Google Cloud portfolio,” according to a support article.

Google had launched Hire in 2017.

Business Insider reported that Hire was based on technology that Google acquired in 2015 when it bought BeBop, a firm cofounded by Diane Greene. Earlier this year, Green left her post as Google cloud chief.

Google noted that there will be no impact to customers’ G Suite agreements as a result of the closure of Hire. And customers can continue using Hire through Sept. 1, 2020.

Today, Google was also in the news when the European Competition Commissioner indicated it is looking at the company’s Google for Jobs offering for unfair competition.
