GEE Group reports revenue of $22 million for quarter

August 15, 2016

GEE Group (NYSE MKT: JOB) reported net revenue of approximately $22 million in its fiscal third quarter ended June 30. The increase is approximately $10.5 million from the third quarter of last year; however, the company has made several acquisitions over the past year that contributed to revenue. They include Scribe Solutions, Agile Resources, Access Data Consulting and Paladin Consulting Inc.

Contract staffing services represented 92% of third-quarter revenue and direct placement represented 8% of revenue.

Gross margin declined to 28.5% from 31.9% in the prior years’ fiscal third quarter. GEE attributed the decline to less direct-hire revenue, increased professional contract staffing revenue from acquired companies and increased revenue from vendor management systems and managed service provider customers — which typically are higher volume, lower delivery cost and lower margin accounts, the company reported. Net income rose to approximately $528,000 from $118,000 in the fiscal third quarter of 2015.

The Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based staffing firm in July changed its name from General Employment Enterprises Inc. to GEE Group Inc. to facilitate its focus on the IT and professional sectors.

GEE Group shares rose 3.52% to $5.30 today in early afternoon trading; the company has a market cap of $49.71 million, according to Yahoo.
