Professional employer organization G&A Partners acquired the accounts of Focus Management Group, a California-based PEO and HR outsourcing provider.

This is G&A Partners’ fifth acquisition in about 14 months, which include Ascend HR Solutions, an affiliate of Intermountain Staffing Resources in November 2017; Denver-based Employer Essentials in December 2017; Denver-based Platinum Colorado LLC in June 2018; and Dallas-based Zogg Benefits in August 2018.

With the FMG deal, Houston-based G&A Partners reported it now serves more than 1,300 clients and 47,000 worksite employees in the US and Latin America.

“The acquisition of Focus Management Group represents a great opportunity for G&A Partners to more fully establish our presence in the California market,” G&A Partners President and COO John Allen said.

G&A Partners will retain all of Focus Management Group’s corporate employees, including Scott Shumway, FMG’s president and CEO. Shumway will maintain minority ownership in the company and help oversee the transition. This is the second time G&A Partners has worked with Shumway on an acquisition, following the purchase of FMG’s book of business in Utah in 2013.
