Freelance marketplace acquires Spanish online platform Adtriboo

March 25, 2016

Berlin-based twago, an online marketplace for freelance work, acquired Spanish freelance platform Adtriboo. The acquisition expands twago’s footprint in the European and Spanish-speaking markets — several countries in Latin America were serviced by Adtriboo in addition to Spain —and brings twago 140,000 new users.

“In the Spanish market, freelancers account for more than 16% of the workforce, which makes Spain one of the most important markets in Europe,” said twago founder and CEO Thomas Jajeh. “60% of freelancers are between 25 to 49 years old and the number of under-25s has nearly doubled in the past two years. The employment market in Spain is experiencing an enormous change. In this exciting time, we would like to further expand our leadership in Europe.”

The acquisition is part of a consolidation growth strategy and twago will continue to expand in other European markets, according to the company.

“We have taken an important step in our growth strategy with the acquisition of Adtriboo,” Jajeh said. “Companies now have access to thousands of other creative and talented freelancers from Spanish-speaking countries. It allows us to strengthen our position in Europe and grow globally even faster.”

Launched 2009, twago received the second investment made by the Randstad Innovation Fund. The company provides online projects to freelancers and agencies in the areas of programming, (web) design and business services. The marketplace provides access to nearly 500,000 professionals from more than 200 countries. It targets primarily European customers with a multilingual approach: English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Dutch, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish and Flemish.
