View All NewsFederal agencies sign MOU to focus on worker protections, including IC misclassification (Fisher Phillips)
The National Relations Board and the Federal Trade Commission on July 19 signed a memorandum of understanding to enforce protections of workers at gig economy businesses and elsewhere that misclassify independent contractors or impose noncompete and disclosure provisions, law firm Fisher Phillips reported in a post. The MOU between the federal agencies facilitates information sharing, cross-agency consultation, training, outreach and education. Fisher Phillips expects the agencies to focus on the gig economy and pursue anti-competitive conduct; it suggests businesses that are part of the gig economy or use ICs take steps now to avoid problems later.
