Danish job board operator Jobindex has accused Google of making its job search ads available on the Google for Jobs site without permission, more than a year after it asked the EU Commission to investigate the launch of the Google for Jobs service in Denmark.

Danske Medier, an association of Danish media companies, is suing Google on behalf of Jobindex. The suit alleges copyright violations and compensation, according to an Aug. 31 release posted on the Jobindex website.The ads were found during the summer of 2022, according to the release.

Jobindex said it has tried to get Google “to acknowledge that the tech giant has copied job advertisements for the Google for Jobs service without permission,” according to the release. The job board operator also said it found a 20% drop in organic traffic from Google after the introduction of Google for Jobs.

This is the first time a case dealing with EU copyright rules has been tried in a Danish court.

Google has not responded to a Staffing Industry Analysts request for comment.

Separately, the job board reported on Aug. 23 a 7.8% drop in second-quarter revenue to DKK 96.6 million (€12.9 million), compared with the same quarter in the previous year.
