Cross Country Healthcare Inc. (NASD: CCRN) CFO William Burns is taking a medical leave of absence, according to a filing today with the US Securities and Exchange Commission. The board of directors appointed Christopher Pizzi as acting CFO.

Pizzi, has been corporate controller of the Boca Raton, Fla.-based company since December 2014. From September 2013 to December 2014, he served as assistant VP, corporate finance and accounting at Health Management Associates Inc. His previous roles at Health Management Associates include director of corporate accounting from January 2011 to September 2013, and assistant corporate controller from April 2006 to January 2011. Cross Country named Burns as CFO in March 2014.
