Uber Technologies Inc. (NYSE: UBER) and Lyft Inc. (NASDAQ: LYFT) on Thursday lost a bid to delay preliminary enforcement of an injunction that would prohibit them from classifying drivers in California as independent contractors, TechCrunch reported. The preliminary injunction is set to take effect Aug. 20, and it may cause both companies to temporarily suspend their ride-hailing service in California.
