County in North Carolina posts highest increase in average weekly wage among all large counties

New Hanover County in North Carolina posted the highest year-over-year percent increase in average weekly wage among large US counties in the second quarter, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this week. The average weekly wage in New Hanover County rose 11.9% to $884. And the average weekly wage for the entire US rose 3.2% year over year to $1,020.

The 10 US counties with the highest year-over-year percent increases in average weekly wage in the second quarter included:

  1. New Hanover, NC: 11.9%
  2. San Mateo, Calif.: 11.4%
  3. Midland, Texas: 11.4%
  4. Kitsap, Wash.: 11.0%
  5. Clackamas, Ore.: 10%
  6. Bell, Texas: 9.6%
  7. St. Louis, Minn.: 9.5%
  8. Newport News City, Va.: 7.4%
  9. San Francisco, Calif.: 7.3%
  10. Washington, Ark.: 7.2%
  11. Morris, NJ: 7.2%

Santa Clara County in California’s Silicon Valley posted the highest average weekly wage among all large US counties in the second quarter at $2,392, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics reported.

The 10 US counties with the highest average weekly wage in the second quarter:

  1. Santa Clara, Calif.: $2,392
  2. San Mateo, Calif.: $2,093
  3. San Francisco, Calif.: $1,941
  4. New York, NY: $1,907
  5. Washington, DC: $1,675
  6. Suffolk, Mass.: $1,651
  7. Arlington, Va.: $1,609
  8. Fairfax, Va.: $1,542
  9. Morris, NJ: $1,525
  10. Middlesex, Mass.: $1,522
