Geometric Results Inc. signed a five-year deal to provide MSP services to business software firm Oracle to help manage nonemployee resources. This is one deal among several contracts recently announced by firms in the staffing space.

The Oracle and Geometric Results partnership began in February and initially covers eight countries, including the US. It will ultimately expand to between 30 and 35 countries. Value of the deal is not being announced.

“By making the move to GRI, we are certain that Oracle will be pleased with its ability to continue program optimization and global expansion,” said Art Knapp, GRI’s president. “We have every confidence that the partnership between GRI and Oracle will become the pinnacle program in the MSP industry.”

The deal includes helping Oracle manage its staff augmentation, payrolling, vendor on premise, independent contractors and state-of-work/project-based services. Knap said the statement of work piece includes traditional statement of work, and it will include working with Oracle on “billable spend” where third-party resources are provided to Oracle clients, and the clients are then billed for the resources. The billable spend is typically high-end resources that operate on a statement-of-work basis.

Oracle had an existing MSP program in place for the last eight years. It becomes a second-generation program with Geometric Results taking over the MSP duties. Provade is providing the vendor management system and will continue to do so.

“After analyzing our MSP options, it became clear that GRI was the best cultural fit for Oracle, offering unmatched solutions to manage our ever-expanding global non-employee and statement of work programs,” said Wendy Patience-O’Brien, director of global contingent workforce at Oracle.

In other contracts:

The School District of Philadelphia signed a deal with Kelly Educational Services, a division of Kelly Services Inc. (NASD: KELYA), for the staffing firm to provide substitute staffing services for teachers and other school support personnel. The deal starts with the 2016-2017 school year and lasts for two years. “We are committed to resolving the long-standing substitute staffing challenges facing our schools,” Superintendent William Hite said. “After reviewing various solutions, we have determined that Kelly Educational Staffing is the clear choice to provide us with reliable and consistent staff when absences arise.” A contract with another firm to provide substitutes was not renewed.

Wipro Ltd. (NYSE: WIT) announced a deal with Vestas Wind Systems A/S. Wipro will serve as strategic IT partner for workplace services at Vestas, a wind energy firm based in Aarhus, Denmark.
