CoAdvantage Inc., one of North America’s largest professional employer organizations, acquired Progressive Employer Management Company, a PEO based in Sarasota, Fla. The combined platform will have more than 4,000 clients and 85,000 worksite employees.

Clint Burgess, CEO of PEMCO, will remain with the combined firm as COO and CFO Peter Grabowski will remain as CFO.

The transaction closed Oct. 1; terms were not disclosed. While there are no immediate plans to change the PEMCO brand, the CoAdvantage brand will ultimately remain the prevailing brand.

“PEMCO is a large, growing, and skillfully managed professional employer organization that has experienced rapid transformation into one of the country's quality providers,” said CoAdvantage President and CEO Mike Maseda.

The transaction follows CoAdvantage’s acquisition of Denver-based Discovery Outsourcing and New Jersey-based Compensation Solutions in 2014. 

Founded in 1999, PEMCO counts approximately 33,000 worksite employees with locations across Florida and in Dallas.

CoAdvantage serves clients nationwide and is headquartered in Tampa, Fla. Morgan Stanley Global Private Equity made a majority investment in the PEO in October 2015.
