Bullhorn buys Talent Rover and Jobscience; planning to offer platform choices

March 13, 2018

Bullhorn, a supplier of software to staffing firms, today announced the acquisition of fellow software suppliers Talent Rover and Jobscience, two separate firms based in San Francisco.

Talent Rover and Jobscience provide applicant tracking for staffing firms and workflow management functionality around staffing as well as provide some middle office capability. But one key in this transaction is both are based on the Salesforce.com platform.

Bullhorn founder and CEO Art Papas said the deal will enable the company to provide a software offering to staffing firms that want to be on the Salesforce.com platform.

“It’s really great because customers really want choice,” Papas said. “Jobscience was one of the first and largest software providers for staffing providers on the Salesforce.com platform. … Talent Rover was a younger company but growing very quickly.”

Today’s deal follows the acquisition last year of Netherlands-based Connexys, a software supplier to European staffing firm that also used the Salesforce.com platform.

Papas said the company will continue to invest and advance in the products and plans a single brand for its Salesforce.com offerings called Bullhorn for Salesforce.

Talent Rover and Jobscience clients will benefit from having the support of a much larger organization after this deal, he said. However, the company is not moving customers of those platforms to its Bullhorn platform or vice versa.

“That couldn’t actually be further from our plans,” Papas said. “We really want to be able to service customers who want either platform. We would never try to force customers to move from one to the other.”

The deal to acquire the firms has closed, but terms of the transaction were not announced. Both Talent Rover and Jobscience were founder-owned, but had outside investors as well.

Talent Rover founders Brandon Metcalf and Kent Gray will be taking roles within Bullhorn. Metcalf will oversee the entire Salesforce.com ecosystem product line, while Gray will lead efforts around customer success on the platform.
